SD-WAN PRO

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Hardware

The SD-Wan pro has a single physical Gigabit LAN port but when connected to a switch or router,
the amount of end devices that can connect through the SD-Wan is unlimited.

Yes an internal LTE CAT6 modem is supplied with each SD-Wan Pro and this can be connected
using an external SIM slot on the SD-WAN Pro

We supply external LTE CAT6 USB modems which use the USB 3.0 ports
You can use any external connection which uses a LAN port – this can be cellular, satellite or
fixed line

Yes we can include a Wifi modem which enables the unit to connect to a Wifi signal and then
bond with any other available internet connection

The SD-Wan Pro comes with an included VESA mount bracket, adapters can then be used to
rackmount or attach to a DIN rail.

The SD-Wan is Industrial grade but not waterproof, however, please get in contact with us as
bespoke solutions can be designed for weather resistant requirements.

The classic and XL units do not have SFP plugs however bespoke hardware with SFP can be
supplied upon request.

The SD-Wan pro can use MPLS lines, however, if these have no internet access the server
instance may need to be hosted on your existing infrastructure. Please get in touch to discuss
your requirements.

License

The SD-Wan will work with even 1 internet leg. The unit does not have to be used as a ‘bonded’
solution and can be used as a hot failover gateway with seamless IP failover.

It can also be used as a bonded 4G backup against a good quality fixed line – as an example – if
the main office fixed line were to go down, two SIM connections could be used in a bond to
ensure the bandwidth is sufficient to sustain syable business operations and productivity due to a
decrease in available bandwidth.

Yes, the unit will still have resources allocated (Fixed IP, Bandwidth), much like any other internet
service the license fee will still apply even if there is no use.

Yes for IOT use cases we can supply connections that only require 5mbps connections – please
contact us for bespoke pricing

Management

The SD-Wan portal allows monitoring and remote access & configuration for the units

Email alerts can be configured for a wide range of triggers, including leg changes, password
changes, hardware alerts, etc.

Bandwidth consumption, throughput and packet loss information and graphs are all
available for individual units and reports for all units are available from the portal.

Branding and whitelisting is available for resellers along with a multi-tenant portal for customer
access to specific units.

Multiple users can be set up on the portal for an individual customer or group.

Infrastructure

We have POPs in a wide number of regions & countries to minimise the impact of latency

There are no port restrictions on the service, you can use an SD-Wan pro in ‘bridge’ mode
to pass the fixed IPv4 address to a firewall and set up any public facing services as
normal.

Yes, the solution does not affect any VPNs.

Absolutely, we can set up resilient site to site links on the SD-Wan pro meaning communication
between branches or sites cannot be affected if any links go down or suffer performance issues.

Yes, the server portion of the solution can be hosted on existing infrastructure, this can be
designed to allow access to centralised services, incorporate L2 MPLS links into the bond or any
other use case that requires access to private resources.

We can provide subnets of public IP’s up to a /29, if more IP addresses are needed please
speak to us about your exact requirements. /29 addresses are available in most locations
but not at all global locations.
